I grew up on Andrew Lang and have always loved Burton. This, however is a very nice and clean language presentation. The stories hold true to Burton but are much more modern in their tone. I have no knowledge at all of the original language and that makes it very nice to read different interpretations; we must always remember that translation involves interpretation and judgement calls. Burton remains my favorite, but these are excellent. The printing and binding are respectively clear and strong. I'm very pleased to have this set. JRG

Great title but shameful packaging from Amazon.com

My review is less about the product and more about the woeful packaging that Amazon.com used to shipped it to me (USA to Australia)... The title looked fantastic and I thought it would make a great addition to my growing collection of Penguin Classics. However when it arrived words cannot described how disappointed I was. Instead of using an appropriately sized box the packaging department had used a very large box with NO protective materials so the boxed set of books were free to move about in the box on the journey from the USA to Australia. The outer cover was damaged beyond repair and torn on every side. The books themselves were dented and damaged... Very disappointed and upset with how Amazon.com handled the issue....
